Looking for low profile goggles?

Champion close framed goggles / glasses mini review

As the spread of Oakley M-Frame Helo kits in airsoft kits have saturated the market of gear whores and impressionists, I was looking for a inexpensive alternative. Little did I know I’d find these gems while wandering about walmarts outdoor sporting goods section.

Champion Close Framed Goggles

The Champion close framed goggles (and attachable sides for glasses) were on the shelf. For $15 it was a steal so I picked them up to try them. Let’s just call these W-Frames from now on, these things rock.

Feel

Goggles with Strap

These feel great! Now considering I have an asian head and I have to purchase those darn asian fit boogies and asian fit revisions, these fit fine. (and you don’t have to worry if you’re asian, because there’s no problem space between your goggles and your nose where you might get shot).
There’s enough foam on surrounding the frames that they are comfortable when the band is adjusted.

Look

The look like some high-end low profile goggles!

Fogging

I didn’t have any problems with them at Stryker the whole day. This is also coupled with FogTech Anti-Fog wiped on the inside of the goggles. I never tried them without the anti-fog.

Overall

goggles front (haha makes me look cross-eyed)

Overall you can’t beat these. They have the look of some nice high end goggles, and they have a nice all around feel to them too. The Ansi rating is your standard Z87+ (which is high impact) written directly on the lenses. I’ve taken a BB straight to the goggles at Stryker ( < 350 fps with .25s). I highly recommend purchasing these if you’re looking to slim down your goggle profile for under $20.
